Advocate is a spot-on treatment used to control internal and external parasites affecting dogs, cats and ferrets. The contents of one pipette are applied to the skin on the back of the neck between the parted hair. The area is then left to dry, which might take a few hours. One of the active ingredients, moxidectin, is absorbed through the skin and travels around the body, treating internal parasites such as worms. The other active ingredient, imidacloprid, transfers across the surface of the body, dissolved in the oils on the surface of the skin and hairs. Surface living parasites such as fleas are killed on contact. Of all the products available, Advocate probably kills the broadest range of parasites affecting dogs, cats and ferrets
