When my wife and I got married and I saw she had a cheap, battery powered string trimmer her sister had given to her for Christmas, I just rolled my eyes, realizing she’d yet had just one more thing I’d need to replace with a legitimate, name branded, gas powered one to really get the job done effectively… until I tried it. To my surprise, her $70 trimmer worked like a champ and I’ve been using it every week for the past 7 years! When the string ran out, I went to “Wally World” and all they carried was the Black and Decker brand, so I bought it. A few years later when that ran out, I went looking for more on Amazon and discovered these no-name spools for less than half the price. Seriously, we’re taking about nylon string wound on a spool. How much difference could there possibly be? NONE, apparently!! These generic spools are IDENTICAL in design and materials to the B&D ones and they even give you a few extra orange caps which install every bit as well as the originals. Swap the string out in about 45 seconds and you’re back in business (though it might take you half the afternoon to find where you last left the refills). I’m definitely a guy who appreciates quality and frown on cheap knock-offs, but trust me, this string doesn’t disappoint, costs a small fraction of the B&D-branded stuff and does every bit as good a job!
